As already confirmed the new addition into the franchise, Watch Dogs 2, will not have the climbing mechanic that has been featured in almost every Ubisoft game since Assassin’s Creed. This was originally used to unlock parts of the map. According to Gamespot and Director, Danny Belanger, WD2 will not feature the AR mini games as well.
The goal is to offer a more immersive city exploring experience, the developers have made massive intricate details that they want the players to not only see but find. The city is just as alive as any mini game would be and they hope that will come through the gameplay.
The past rendition of the franchise, Watch Dogs, included NVZN and Cash Run which were two core modes that players used to level up and get cash. In NVZN, you shoot AR aliens with a blaster via your smartphone app, while Cash Run had you chasing cash while being chased by demons.
The Digital Trips were another iconic mode that showed players in a new dream like world. This was very similar to Far Cry’s iconic missions. At this time the developers have not said if it will make its way into in Watch Dogs 2.
