Watch Dogs 2’s DLC Release Date Pushed Back

Earlier today in an announcement, Ubisoft let the world know that Watch Dogs 2 would not be seeing its first DLC as soon as they’d hoped. All this can be attributed to the fact that they need to focus on putting out patches to fix issues with the game. They have been focusing much of their time on patches for the multiplayer issues plaguing the game since launch day.

The problems with Watch Dogs 2 are very reminiscent of what The Division went through shortly after its release. While Watch Dogs 2 does not have nearly as many issues as The Division has had, the company is struggling to put out polished games. So far for The Division has had both its second and third DLC’s pushed back due to the amount of work needed to get the game to run smoothly. As of yet, it is unknown whether or not the same fate will follow with Watch Dogs 2.

In their blog post earlier today, Ubisoft mentioned that,

This and previous patches [are] an important step towards stabilizing Watch Dogs 2’s seamless multiplayer functionality, and other core online features, before releasing any new multiplayer content. Since these updates required additional development resources, we’ve made the decision to adjust our release schedule for that new content.

The delayed DLC has been named T-bone and is now scheduled to be released on PS4 December 22nd, only 9 days delayed from its original time frame. Xbox One and PC will have to wait significantly longer, with the release date set to January 24th.

Prior to the PS4 release of the DLC, Ubisoft will be conducting a free event dubbed T-bone Chaos Event. The event will begin the week of the 19th and run for four weeks, with each week “bringing a new themed challenge through Ubisoft Club that gives players a chance to earn in-game currency and unique event rewards, like new car skins or a new bag for Marcus.”

Only time will tell whether or not Watch Dogs 2 will suffer the same fate as The Division. Rest assured, Ubisoft has appeared to be working diligently to fix any and all issues for the game.
