It looks like we’ll be waiting just a little bit longer than anticipated for the long awaited sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Focus Entertainment has announced through an update that Warhammer 40000K: Space Marine II has officially been delayed until the second half of 2024, which pushes its potential release date to well past August of that year. The title was initially pushed to 2024 during this past Summer, but it wasn’t entirely clear when we would be able to get our hands on it. However, the publisher also revealed that they will announce the official launch date for the title next month.

Focus Entertainment states in the update that we can expect a release date for the title in “early December.” While it’s not explicitly stated, there is a high probability that they will make this reveal during The Game Awards 2023, as that is the last major video game event of the year, and is used by many publishers and developers as a platform to announce new IP’s and updates to existing ones. The event takes place on Thursday, December 7, which is right on point for early December, making this even more of a likelihood of happening.
As we stated earlier, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II is the very much long awaited sequel that, quite honestly, not a lot of people saw coming. The original title launched in September 2011, and while it was generally well received, it didn’t exactly set the gaming world on fire. Those who were dedicated fans of the Warhammer 40,000 enjoyed it, but at the time, it wasn’t very clear if the sub-series would continue with any more entries. Fast forward more than 10 years later and a fully fledged sequel was announced at The Game Awards 2021, shocking everyone in the video game community, and making the diehard Warhammer 40,000 fans go crazy. Hopefully we get that release date during this year’s event.
