Denuvo and DRM, two names that would make any PC gamer shudder in disgust. For many years anti tamper systems like Denuvo have been plaguing the PC gaming market, causing performance issues and massive headaches for any gamer who downloads a game featuring it, but things seem to be taking a turn in the industry at least from the perspective of Saber Interactive, as reported by PCGamesN it seems that Saber is not adding any sort of DRM to the upcoming highly anticipated co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
As stated in the article, when asked if Space Marine 2 would feature any DRM Saber gave a flat “no” as their final, definitive answer. This is good because, as stated before, no PC gamer actually likes having DRM on any video game they download. Whether or not this will be a trend with studios for upcoming games is up in the air, but we can breath a sigh of relief for Space Marine 2 at the very least being free from what many would call a plague, pretty fitting considering the subject matter of the game being wiping what the marines would consider a plague off the face of the galactic map.
If you would like to support Saber Interactive and their movement against intrusive programs pre-installed to video games on the PC, or if you’re just excited for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and we can’t blame you for being hyped for the latest step in xenos annihilation, be sure to keep an eye on your Steam page as it will release in a little less than a week on September 9th, 2024. It will be available on PC through Steam, as the DRM topic suggests, but you can also get it on consoles for the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
