Developer VizionEck announced that they are releasing an abstract FPS indie game called VizionEck, that’s correct same as the studio name. No release date has been announced yet, nor was there any news about coming to other consoles, but the announcement trailer was released for PS4 on the PlayStation Blog today.
“It has very little in common with the traditional FPS though,” studio founder Michael Ambrust said. VizionEck, has you play as a Ranger, which you are actually shaped as a S.O.S cube.
Ambrust mentions that the studio wanted to make the game feel more “mathematically ‘exact.'”
You start out in a spawn room that you can jump around that is filled with 24 cubes, but not all of them are Rangers. In a traditional FPS, you would want to go up and snipe down at people, but in this game you will actually want to be at the bottom, being that this will give you an advantage at getting other Rangers. Being a Ranger it will allow you one ability to defend yourself, and that is called “charge block,” which acts like a shield that is above you in order to defend from attacks from above, but not below.
“As a Ranger, your health is displayed as the brightness of your outlines. Solid white and you’re as healthy as an ox. Almost black and you’re on the brink of destruction. Even the smallest enemy shot would mark your end,” Ambrust said.
With the health being displayed, it is better to actually be low on health in order to be more invisible and blend in with the other cubes, plus that will allow you to attack other Rangers without them knowing.
