Voice chat in online games is sometimes an integral part of the actual game itself. Communication is key in multiplayer games and the like. So for many Nintendo Switch players, communication is lacking as the Switch doesn’t have any native type of voice chat system. So, most of the time, players will use mobile apps to chat with their friends during an online match or multiplayer game. However, this won’t be the case for long as company Vivox has plans.
Vivox, one of the world’s leading providers for voice and text chat for video games, teamed up with company PDP and has been working on the production of a Nintendo Switch controller. This controller is known a the Nintendo Switch Faceoff Deluxe+ Audio Wired Controller. The Switch Faceoff will allow for in-game voice chat with games that are equipped with Vivox’s chat and text system. One of the games with Vivox’s system is Fortnite. Though there is possibility that this controller will work with non-Vivox games.
The Switch Faceoff offers a 3.5mm audio jack that supports in-game and any USB chat. Volume can be controlled with the D-pad for on-the fly adjustments. There is also a customize option with the dual paddle-style back buttons that are programmable to do whatever the player wants. There are currently two colors available, red camo and purple camo. Though both face plats are able to snap out of place and change to a different color if the player decides. The controller also comes with a 10-foot charging cable for plenty of space to move around with.
The Nintendo Switch Faceoff Deluxe+ Audio Wired Controller will be available for pre-order starting sometime in May and will cost $24.99 for one. After pre-orders, the controller will be available during Summer 2019. There will only be the red and purple camo colors at launch, but there is expected to be more colors in the future. Check out more from PDP’s blog post about the controller and its features as well as where to pre-order one.
