VirtuaVerse Announced For The Steam Store With An Unknown Release Date

Theta Division Games and Blood Music have a game in the works that combines aspects of science-fiction and six-bit graphics with a cyberpunk style that is hopefully releasing in the next year or so. VirtuaVerse is an indie title that takes place in the near future where a single Artificial Intelligence has risen over all of the rest. Not only has this A.I. spread and conquered over the world’s governments, but all of society has migrated into an integrated reality that’s connected on one neural network. This network constantly changes and adapts peoples’ experiences “by processing personal data.”

In the last couple of weeks, Theta Division has announced that VirtuaVerse will be coming to Steam in a new video showing off the gameplay and hacking actions. This click adventure will take dark themes of a totally digital world where government is obsolete. Player will take control of a character named Nathan, who is refusing to comply with the software-future. Check out the latest video from the developers here:

Nathan has been surviving the artificial future by staying completely off of the grid. He is succeeding until his girlfriend ends up missing one day. All he has as clues from Jay, an Augmented Reality graffiti writer, is a cryptic message on his mirror that is seen only from his custom augmented-virtual-reality glasses. Nathan must follow Jay’s drones, which have been spraying clues in techno color all over the augmented reality of the city they lived in. In order to find Jay, players will have to help Nathan overcome cyberwar, virtual reality challenges, digital lore, technomancers, and much more that is in the unknown cyber space.

It’s rumored that Theta Division is planning on releasing VirtuaVerse in the second quarter of this year, but their Steam page’s release date simply says “..in a future not so far away,” so take that as you will.
