During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed something new( technically, something old but you get it) for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members, Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics. Members in the United States and Canada will be able to play classic Virtual Boy games like Teleroboxer, Galactic Pinball, and more with two add-on accessories, a replica of the original hardware and a cardboard model.
All players have to do is insert either their Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch system into the accessory. The dedicated accessories for Virtual Boy can be purchased by those who have a Nintendo Switch Online membership. To play the games, players will need an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
The Replica version of Virtual Boy comes with the Virtual Boy for Nintendo Switch 2/Nintendo Switch accessory, stand, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch attachments, an eye shade, and lens cover. The Cardboard model just comes with the accessory.
The Replica will cost $99 and the Cardboard model is $24.99.
The original Virtual Boy is 32-bit tapletop portable game console that was released back in 1995. It was promoted as the first system capable of rendering stereoscopic 3D graphics. The Virtual Boy featured a red monochrome display viewed through a binocular eyepiece, with games employing a parallax effect to simulate depth.
Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics will launch on February 17, 2026. 15 games will be added to the service over time.
