Paradox Interactive has announced that their upcoming RPG title, Vampire the Masquerade-Bloodlines 2, has been delayed “indefinitely.” The reveal came up in their Year-end Report 2020, which is filled with numerous statistics before detailing the rather grim situation within the ongoing development for the title. In addition to the postponement, the publisher also revealed that the project’s lead developer. Hardsuit Labs is no longer working on the game, with an unannounced new studio now heading the project.

To further emphasize this situation, Paradox is no longer putting any sort of release date on Vampire the Masquerade-Bloodlines 2, nor are they even accepting any pre-orders at this time. The company stated “We have started a collaboration with a new studio partner to finish work on the game. This has been a difficult decision, but we are convinced that it is the right way forward to do the game justice.” There was no mention as to who the new studio was, but this paints a rather bleak picture for the title in general, especially since there hasn’t been a whole lot of information to go on since the title was announced in Spring 2019. The game originally had a 2020 release time frame, but was delayed twice, first in October 2019, and then again in August 2020.
For those who aren’t aware, Vampire the Masquerade-Bloodlines 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Troika Games’ 2004 cult classic Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, which is itself a spin-off of a massive tabletop series called World of Darkness. The game received a mixed reception from critics and gamers alike, although it did find a fan base that still supports it to this day. Ironically, the development for the first title slightly mirrors the current one, as it took nearly five years to complete after some serious setbacks, and eventually lead to Troika Game’s closure. This new postponement will be the third for Vampire the Masquerade-Bloodlines 2, and with a brand new team coming in to try and finish the job, it’s anyone’s guess as to when it will see the light of day.
