Arguably the biggest question that came from Valve’s trio of announcements was how its Steam Controller would work. Valve took a small step today, showing a demonstration of their controller via their YouTube page.
The four games demoed are Portal 2, Civilization V, Counter Strike, and Papers Please. Valve clearly put thought into these choices, as each represents a different genre. As a viewer, you get to see how the customization of the controller may work for your preferred genre.
What immediately stood out was how responsive the controller was in Counter Strike. One of the biggest knocks against traditional console controllers has been the difficulty matching the precision of a mouse and keyboard. I am not suggesting this will, but it looks solid.
At the conclusion of the demo, the orator asks you, the gamer, to suggest their next games to demo. Start commenting!
