Update For Dishonored 2 Adds New Game Plus, With a Twist

It finally arrived, the first update for the highly anticipated Bethesda game Dishonored 2 will finally be getting the update players needed. While adding game improvements, Bethesda graciously decided to throw in a New Game Plus mode. This will allow players to not only play the game over with all their character progression, but be able to mix and match Emily and Corvo’s powers.

As they announced earlier this week, and a month since the games release, the new game mode doesn’t follow the typical “New Game Pus” mentality seen by other games in the past. Once the game is completed with either Emily or Corvo, New Game Plus will allow players to begin a new game with either character, and their powers.

The fun bit about the update is that this time around, you’ll have access to the full abilities of either character. Players will be able to use all the Runes and Bonecharm Traits they collected in the first play through, now being able to re-assign them whichever way they wish. This means that if you didn’t like a certain ability of either character, you could just opt out of using it completely and bring in a fresh one. This adds to replay value due to the fact that it introduces all new kinds of combo’s to take down enemies.

Here’s what Creative Director Harvey Smith had to say about the new feature while talking with Bethesda.

Dishonored players have asked for it, so now New Game Plus is here for Dishonored 2. If you’ve ever wanted to make higher-powered characters, now’s your chance. If you’ve wanted to play Emily Kaldwin with Possession or Devouring Swarm, or Corvo Attano with Domino, now you can. We’ve been having fun with it here at Arkane Studios, and we hope you will too.

One feature not included in the first update is the ability to select a specific mission to play. Players will have to wait for the second game update, scheduled to be released in January, before being allowed to select a single mission to play and add new custom difficulty settings.
