A recent update to the Android/iOS game Fire Emblem Heroes added new events and quality of life-improving features regarding the series’ iconic tactical gameplay.
The update, version 1.8.0, adds the Sacred Seal Forge where players can craft and upgrade the stat-altering seals. Players will need enough Badges, Great Badges and Sacred Coins to create each Sacred Seal for their series-spanning armies. With this update, Sacred Coins can be found through quests and Tempest Trials instead of just the Arena Assault mode. In order to create any seals, however, players must complete the main story’s 13th chapter, “Diabolical Bloodline.”
Options to complete such quests have been added or improved, like more direct quest access from menus and easier team swapping. Now, maps with available quests are marked with a scroll symbol and accepting a mission from the quest list takes players directly to the appropriate map. From here, a screen with the relevant quest information and an option to edit a four unit army will appear.
Battles themselves have a more accessible tweak, since an auto-battle button is now part of the menu bar during a skirmish.
On the event side of the update, there are three limited-time activities, two of which start on Oct. 11. The event that started with today’s update is another Voting Gauntlet, a three-round battle that pits eight characters against each other in a popularity contest. This time, the theme is “The Blood of Dragons,” featuring shape-shifting heroes Corrin (male and female), Fae, Ninian, Nowi, Sophia and two versions of Tiki. Players have until Oct. 14 to fight for their favorite of the bunch.
The other events, a Bound Hero Battle and Summoning Focus, center on sisters Maria and Minerva from Mystery of the Emblem. During Bound Hero Battles, players must clear the map without losing any units. They will be rewarded with Orbs for their efforts, which are necessary to summon additional heroes and upgrade their castle. During summoning events, however, players’ first summon is free of an Orb charge.
Additionally, players who log into the game between Oct. 9 and Oct. 22 can receive Orbs up to 10 times.
