European Splatoon 2 players will soon have the opportunity to make their preferred toilet paper roll position heard during the game’s next Splatfest, a battle between front and back-facing toilet paper.
The bath tissue-themed competition was announced through Nintendo of Europe’s Twitter, which few commenters replied with an in-game image of a user’s proposed Splatfest theme, prompting a choice between two rolls of toilet paper. Players can settle this argument next week, when the Splatfest starts on Oct. 7 at 16:00 Central European Summer Time.

Nintendo’s tweet received a variety of replies, most commenting about the fact participants have to choose between which toilet paper facing they feel strongest about. Some players took a more playful route, while others expressed their dissatisfaction with the competition.

I really don't want to participate in this one, like seriously this is the worst splatfest idea I've ever seen

WTF, there are so many good themes and you take this?? I'm disappointed. Especially because Front Roll is the right and patented way…

Over the series’ history, the game has asked players which is their favorite between multiple topics, with classic rivalries like cats versus dogs, pirates against ninjas, and if pineapple belongs on pizza. Other Splatfests pitted players against each other through preferences between super powers, condiments and McDonald’s fries and McNuggets.
The front versus back-facing roll battle starts next Saturday and will conclude on Sunday. As usual, the winning team will have to secure at least two of the game’s three categories, popularity, solo and team wins. Currently, Europe’s Splatoon 2 Splatfest standings put the squid emcee Pearl in the lead over her Octoling counterpart, Marina, with a 2-1 record. Pearl holds a similar place in the North American and Japanese results.
To participate in Splatfests, players must visit a bulletin board that appears in Inkopolis Square prior to the event’s start. There, players can pick their team and receive a special Splatfest Tee (which can only be used during the event) for their Inklings to wear during their ink-spraying battles.
Themes and dates for the next North American and Japanese Splatfests have not been announced.
