Riding the wave of Assassin’s Creed excitement following the successful debut of Assassin’s Creed Origins at this year’s E3, Ubisoft announced today their newest addition to the broad family of historical assassin games: Assassin’s Creed Rebellion. Rebellion will be a free-to-play mobile game, featuring new styles of gameplay for the franchise, as well as a cutesy new art style. Ever wanted to see a squad of adorable big-headed assassins try to look badass? Check out the game’s new teaser:
In Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, players will take on a more management-style approach to the world of assassin-ing, as they assemble their own Assassin Brotherhood, build and design a special fortress for their team, and go on special missions to combat the Templars. While Rebellion will take place in the middle of the Spanish Inquisition, the player will be able to recruit and control assassins from many of the various world locations and historical eras that the franchise has visited; familiar faces from old Assassin’s Creed games that will be playable in Rebellion include Ezio, Shao Jun, Aguilar, and Machiavelli. These characters will come alongside over 20 brand new characters created exclusively for Rebellion, for a total roster of over 40 available assassins.
From what we know so far, much of Assassin’s Creed Rebellion looks like it will play similar to Fallout Shelter, in which the player builds out their Brotherhood HQ with various room types that let them train their assassins and craft new items and gear, as well as unlocking new room types and upgrades as they level up their Brotherhood. The player will then take small teams of assassins out on missions, using specific assassins’ special skills to take on each objectives’s unique challenges. “Loot” missions will let players collect materials for crafting new items, while “Story” and “Legacy” missions will allow players to collect DNA fragments to use towards unlocking new assassins for their Brotherhood.
Assassin’s Creed Rebellion is currently in development, with a worldwide release coming soon for both iOS and Andriod platforms.
