On September 20 of this year, the four-person team House House released the puzzle-stealth game Untitled Goose Game. The indie game made a splash when it hit PC and Nintendo Switch game stores, and even became one of the best sellers for Nintendo Switch. The game’s popularity was is cited because of its playful nature and the chaotic gameplay loops as the players took control of the titular goose in causing mayhem.
The Verge reviewed the game favorably, enjoying the cartoon graphics and wacky premise. Reviewer Dami Lee said:
You can duck, run, grab things with your beak, and flap your wings, which serves no real value to the game but is a fun, goose-like thing you can do. Unfortunately, you cannot jump, fling items at people, or fly, but your presence alone is enough to put everyone else on edge, which is a kind of power I appreciate.
In response to the surprising popularity of the game, House House made an off-hand remark about porting the home to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Now it the remark has come to fruition. House House took to Twitter to announce the game’s arrival on the consoles on the 17th of December.
This was not the only surprise relating to Untitled Goose Game, Microsoft has a surprise for Game Pass subscribers. Untitled Goose Game will be added to Game Pass for any subscribers to download and play. Though non-subscriebrs will still have to purchase the game outright, but it is a nice addition to the growing library of games on Game Pass.
Untitled Goose Game will be priced at the normal price of $19.99 on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Both Sony and Microsoft will be running a limited time sale for the initial release of Untitled Goose Game, selling the game for $14.99 instead of the full price.
