Until Dawn, the choose-your-own-adventure horror drama game created by Supermassive Games has been announced to receive a remaster during PlayStation’s State of Play. Best known for its unique “butterfly effect” mechanic, Until Dawn was released 2015 for the PlayStation 4. Although it never received a sequel, Until Dawn was followed by a prequel, The Inpatient, a virtual reality spin-off called Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, as well as a spiritual successor in 2022’s The Quarry.

The remaster will finally make the game available on the PC, as well as porting it to the new PlayStation 5. Additionally, as confirmed in multiple posts on X as well as YouTube videos, the remaster will feature a “new third-person mode, enhanced visuals, emotional performances, audio and more.”
Until Dawn is inspired by classic horror movies both new and old, relying on tension more than action. Another unique element of the game is the motion caption and voice acting, with characters being portrayed by notable actors, including Rami Malek.

While Until Dawn‘s remaster release date has not yet been announced, and few details about the remaster are known, a movie adaptation directed by David F. Sandberg, director of Lights Out and Shazam, was announced a few weeks ago. Until then, we’ll be replaying the original game and Supermassive’s entire Dark Picture Anthology.
A movie adaption of ‘UNTIL DAWN’ is in the works.
David F. Sandberg is set to direct with Gary Dauberman writing the script.
