Uncharted: The Last Legacy Reveals New Gameplay Trailer at PSX

MXDWN is at this year’s PlayStation Experience and so far the event has not disappointed. Thousands filled the Anaheim Convention Center Saturday morning to attend the event’s opening showcase. Several prominent Sony figures opened the event including the chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden, where they announced news for all that’s to come this weekend. But before any news was announced, attendees were well surprised with the showcase’s opening: the announcement of Uncharted 4’s new expansion, The Lost Legacy.

After waiting in anticipation for nearly an hour in a half, as thousands of people filled the room, the lights went out and a video popped up on the big screen. With such a cold open to this year’s PSX, attendees were puzzled by what they saw.

Opening the gameplay trailer is a woman wearing a red hijab. As we follow this character, we see her navigating her way through a war torn city where there appears to be some sort of martial law set in place. We then see this character checking her phone for a briefing (via text message) with an unknown contact. To add to all of this, the city is constantly being bombarded. As she makes her way to their meeting we are shown several game elements like lock-picking and stealth, along with the same interactive story telling we’ve seen by Naughty Dog. As she is makes her way through aggressive soldiers, who are apparently killing and detaining a number of citizens, she ends up meeting her contact on a building’s rooftop. As the woman in the red hijab reaches the rendezvous, she takes off her hijab and we realize that we’ve been following Chloe Frazier! And the unknown person she’s meeting? None other than Nadine Ross of this year’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Here’s the gameplay trailer:

In a panel discussion following the showcase, designer of the game, Kurt Margenau, along with writer Josh Scherr, stated that one of the reasons why the city in the video is overrun by military men and constant bombardment is because the main antagonist of the new stand-alone expansion is a military leader. However, any more specific information about the story was unfortunately kept secret.

But one of the noticeable features of the gameplay trailer did show was the game’s location (obviously). The video shows Chloe in some exotic land. Josh Scherr clarified in the panel discussion that the expansion is actually entirely set in India, and two of the main reasons for this was to explore a deeper part of Chole’s character and because India quite simply has some beautiful scenery.

Naughty Dog’s new stand-alone expansion will obviously be shorter than Uncharted 4; however, in the panel discussion, the developers made sure to note that the “DLC” is actually a “story expansion”. The Lost Legacy will have plenty of content and players can expect it to be even longer than The Last of Us.

No word yet has been said as to when the game will be coming out, but you can be sure that the game will come to PS4.
