Sony’s E3 conference is finally here. The presentation started off interestingly with live music and a waterfall show. This was used to set the mood and introduce a huge trailer for Uncharted the Lost Legacy. Some cutscenes were shown giving us some closer looks on the story and characters. Some conflict between the two protagonists was very apparent in this trailer. Besides that explosions, gunfights, and dramatic climbing scenes were shown which are all iconic to the series.
Horizon Zero Dawn’s Frozen Wildlands story DLC got a trailer and was announced to be coming later this year.
Days Gone from Bend Studio received a lengthy new trailer. Some pedestrian interaction along with some weather effects and driving are displayed. Animal interaction are also being shown off along with some mobile combat as well. Traps can be set by robbers and that can knock the player right off their vehicle. A look at the environment reveals a lush forest area with zombies and survivors scattered around. We got a look at stealth gameplay and saw close to an army of flesh hungry zombies. Players can use explosives and even the zombies themselves to their advantage when trying to infiltrate camps and bases. The trailer ends with the protagonists encountering a zombified bear.
Shawn Layden returned on stage came to welcome the crowd and to present the next trailer Monster Hunter World from Capcom a RPG in an vast open world. The trailer focused on only one character who has to use stealth tactics, and a giant blade to approach dinosaurs and pick the best times to attack. Fights between dinosaurs can also occur and they can be quite massive. This is the first main entry for the game on a Sony platform since 2011 and its slated to release in 2018.
A trailer for a Shadow of Colossus remake coming in 2018. The game had a remaster on Playstation 3 but Team Ico seems to be taking another stab it for the next gen.
Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite got a brand new cinematic trailer involving many of the popular characters from each universe. There were also details of a story mode demo that will be made available tomorrow. Characters such as Mega Man X, Zero, Ryu, Chun Li, Captain Marvel, Rocket Raccoon and many more will be facing off in an epic battle against Ultron and Thanos.
Call of Duty WWII got a trailer as well that showed off multiplayer maps that players will be battling it out in. There was some gameplay but the trailer was mostly cinematic. Some of the areas included Normandy, France; the Ardennes Forest, Belgium; and Aachen, Germany.
Some Playstation VR titles were shown as well as well, The first trailer showed was a VR version of Skyrim. The gameplay showed the player using an assortment of weapons and magic to fight different monsters and enemies alike. However no release dat was given for this title. Next was Star Child from Playful and Gametrust. The game takes place in a futuristic world with giant robots teeming around. The next trailer was another VR game called the Inpatient. This game took us inside the of a rather creepy hospital where something isn’t quite right. Square Enix also teased Final Fantasy XV VR experience that seemed to center around the fishing mechanics in the original game. The Monster From the Deep is coming September this year. Another trailer for s Playstation VR title was a first person shooter called Bravo Team. And the last VR game introduced was Moss, a visually appealing game from Polyarc. The game featured a mouse like character going through tombs and solving puzzles and some combat.
God of War received a trailer. It started off with Kratos and his son talking in some dramatic scenes . This gives us some vague story details along with some cinematics and some combat gameplay. Along with the axe we were introduced to in the first trailer Kratos now has a shield he uses as well. In the trailer he teaches his son some basics of combat which sets the mood for the overall story that he will have to teach his son and be a father figure throughout the game. Which is a role he definitely isn’t used to taking. There was also climbing as well as boat travel displayed. To wrap it all up an ominous looking giant serpent was also shown at the end of the trailer. It’s set to release in early 2018.
The next trailer was Detroit Become Human. It showed a a heavily cybernetic city and gameplay of moving throughout it. There were examples of choice implementation shown as well as the different outcomes. The player will be attempting to create a movement full of followers to lead an android revolution against society. Players can chose violence or non violent action to complete missions.
From Bungie and Activision Destiny 2 got a gameplay trailer and a look at the game’s campaign mode. Destiny 2 was revealed on May 19. Playstation 4 exclusives were also announced during the trailer. These exclusives were Lake of Shadows: an exclusive strike, City Apex: an exclusive ship, Weapon Borealis: an exclusive exotic weapon, and Retribution: an exclusive PVP map. It is scheduled for release September 6, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Shawn Layden introduced another exclusive, Spiderman. Gameplay was shown of some stealth combat. In this game Spiderman can set web traps that fire on their own and leave enemies stuck helplessly. The “Demons” are the bad guys who he’s fighting against in this game. The combat seems fluid and the combos are well balanced with the web. He can also use the environment to fight and use to his advantage as well. We got a look at a mini boss fight and some dodging mechanics. Also a look at some quick time events of Spidey stopping a crane from falling. Finally some web swinging through the city was shown as well. Quick time events seem to be key in critical moments of the game. Spiderman is coming next year. Also teaser was also shown that Miles Morales will be in the game.
