Sony announced, via the PlayStation Blog, that Plunder would be returning to multiplayer in Uncharted 4, and that it would be playable at PAX East this weekend.
The mode, which was previously in Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3, is a classic capture-the-flag game, players must search the map for an idol and return it to their treasure chest.
Naughty Dog also made some changes to Plunder for Uncharted 4. For one, players can now traverse while holding the idol. Second, instead of Plunder being 5 vs 5 it will be reduced to 4 vs 4. Lead Designer Robert Cogburn assures fans that Plunder is just as fun with eight people.
Given the number of mechanics that have been introduced into our multiplayer’s moment-to-moment gameplay, Plunder at four vs. four is perfect and we hope fans that experience this mode at PAX East feel the same.
Plunder will be playable on all the maps from the beta and multiplayer stress test–Island, Madagascar City and Rooftops.
Cogburn promises that this won’t be the last reveal before the game’s release, and to keep an eye out for what Naughty Dog has in store for after PAX East.
The reveal of Plunder is just another piece. Let me assure you, what we will be revealing soon after PAX East will please a lot of people.
