If you are an Uncharted series fan then the last 72 hours have been quite exciting – until of course you realize it’s probably all fake but I digress.
A supposed leaked screenshot of Uncharted 4 made rounds online this past weekend. Uncharted 4 being in development is by no means a surprise as the previous three entries have garnered unanimous acclaim and amassed over 14 million in unit sales. But who doesn’t love a good ole fashion in-studio leak?
The title suggests the name of the 4th entry is “Eye of Atlantis” pointing towards a water-centric themed game. This would make sense if you compare the previous entries: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune focused heavily on tropical environments, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves snow, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception desert.
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Nolan Dra..er North, the insanely talented and diverse voice actor of Uncharted’s smooth, ninja like protagonist Nathan Drake, spoke about the future of the series.
Everybody asks about Uncharted 4, ‘I have no idea’ is the answer. I really don’t. Naughty Dog is busy with The Last of Us, which is supposed to be fantastic, but they’ve been really, really busy with that. Maybe, once that’s finished and the dust settles from all that, maybe we’ll know more about the possibility of that. I’m hoping, but I really don’t know. The fact that I don’t know is always disconcerting, but we’ll see.
With the release of PS4 only months away it’s likely Uncharted 4 would be in development for the next-gen console rather than the PS3. Uncharted 3 was announced at the VGA’s in 2010. Could we see a similar surprise at this year’s event? Stay tuned.
