Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, since its global release, has seen great success. The game features anthropomorphized horse girls who are based on real race horses from Japan. Players can train the girls, known affectionately as umas (uma being the Japanese word for horse), in different stats in order to win races and reach goals throughout their individual careers. There are also player versus player races available. The current banners feature limited release 3-star wedding versions of the umas Mayano Top Gun and Air Groove and the limited release support cards of SSR wedding versions of Kawakami Princess and Hishi Akebono.

The limited-time champions meeting, the Taurus Cup, recently ended, and the Gemini Cup will be taking its place. The course for the Gemini Cup is turf (Kyoto Turf) and long at 3200m with right/outer traits. Additionally, the conditions for the track will be sunny and firm. Trainers will want to train umas that will be competitive against other players on such courses. It will be important that umas are proficient on such a track and under the given conditions! However, it will be important to remember that umas can also be trained to apply debuffs to competitors. It’ll be wise to train up an ace to take first, but consider including umas to help take down the competition. The Gemini Cup will begin on September 7th, 10:00pm UTC.

Legend races will also be available starting September 11, 10:00pm UTC. It will cycle through the following umas: Mayano Top Gun, Mejiro McQueen, T.M. Opera O, and Super Creek. Players can enter their uma into a race that will include the legend umas. Finishing the race will earn star pieces for the legend uma. There will be three attempts per day, and completing three races will earn additional rewards in the form of daily tasks specifically for legend races.

Global will also see the release of the 3-star uma Seiun Sky on September 7, 10:00pm UTC. Her banner will run until September 18, 9:59pm UTC. The support card banner that will run concurrently with her features SSR cards for Silent Suzuka and Tamamo Cross. Hishi Amazon will follow, beginning on September 17, 10:00pm UTC and running until September 25, 9:59pm UTC. The accompanying support card banner will feature an SSR Bamboo Memory and SR Shinko Windy.

To round out the final banners for September will be 3-star versions of El Condor Pasa and Grass Wonder, and the accompanying SSR support cards will be Seiun Sky and King Halo. Those banners will run from September 21, 10:00pm UTC until October 4, 9:59pm UTC. A story event featuring El Condor Pasa and Grass Wonder will be running concurrently with their banners. Events typically include the ability for players to receive the reward of an SSR support card, as well as the copies to max out the support card. Story events are always worth logging in for!

The Uma Musume: Pretty Derby franchise also includes manga and animations. The most recent animation, Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray, centers around popular uma Oguri Cap and her career. The manga and animations parallel the careers of the umas’ real life counterparts. Oguri Cap’s transfer to a different school and training under a different trainer reflects the real life Oguri Cap’s life and career. The second cour for Cinderella Gray begins airing on October 5, 2025 in Japan.
