Video game references to other games, also known as Easter Eggs, are nothing new. Ubisoft, however, may to hope that these Easter Eggs translate into an interconnected universe for their motion picture department. Ubisoft’s Ash Ismail has already confirmed that Watchdog and Assassin’s Creed will be connected to each other through hard to find Easter Eggs.
This would not be the first time Ubisoft has hinted at a shared universe for their games. Gamers have already found multiple references to Assassin’s Creed in Far Cry 3, another Ubisoft property. It’s also worth noting that Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Watchdogs are all currently in development for a motion picture adaptation. Given The Avenger’s box office dominance in 2012, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to imagine Ubisoft connecting all three of their upcoming movies in some way. Perhaps the Easter Eggs of today could become the last minute teaser of tomorrow.
