Ubisoft CEO Pens Letter to Staff About COVID-19

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, sent out a heartfelt message to the company’s staff regard the coronavirus pandemic. The memo states his concern for his employees, and how Ubisoft plans to protect them. The note was procured by Kotaku to highlight its caring nature.

Guillemot acknowledges the impact the coronavirus outbreak has had on the lives of many and recognizes the changes that need to be made. He says all staff have been encouraged to work from home since last week. Guillemot also praises his management teams, saying “My warm thanks go to both your local and global management teams, who have done such remarkable work in implementing the required preventative measures, in line with recommendations from national authorities and the World Health Organization.” Ubisoft has developed huge commercial games like Just Dance 2020 and they’re looking to release Watch Dogs: Legion, which was pushed back from its original March 6th release date. This is definitely a big move for the company to make while working on the highly anticipated third installment to their Watch Dogs game series.

With such a successful catalog, the French video game giant isn’t worried about losing some revenue if it’s in the interest of protecting their staff. Guillemot asserts this, saying “As for the potential impact of the pandemic on our business… we have sufficient cash reserves to take us through the storm.” Ubisoft has teams in China who faced the brunt of this pandemic weeks ago, and the company took sufficient precautions to protect its employees out there. They have every intention of continuing to do this, and Guillemot thoughtfully closes out his statement to staff with “In the meantime, please take care of yourself.” Ubisoft also shared a similar message to fans on their official Twitter page yesterday.

As always, information on protecting yourself from the COVID-19 pandemic is available through the World Health Organization’s website.
