Ubisoft Bans Two Rainbow Six: Siege Professional Players for Toxic Behavior

Even pros have to follow the rules.

Ubisoft shared in a post on the official Rainbow Six: Siege subreddit today that they have taken ban action against two players from the Rainbow Six Pro League.

The post was made by Rainbow Six: Siege community manager Craig Robinson, known as “Its_Epi” in the community, who made the post explaining the ban.  It was not shared which two specific players the bans were applied to, but Robinson commented that “it will likely become public shortly“, as news(drama) tends to travel fast in the esports world.

The players were banned for acting in violation of the Rainbow Six: Siege Code of Conduct, specifically these parts of it:

  • It is forbidden to harass or bully other players via verbal or written communications. Ubisoft will not tolerate any form of harassment and may be obligated to suspend or ban any player account should harassment occur.
  • Any language or content deemed illegal, dangerous, threatening, abusive, obscene, vulgar, defamatory, hateful, racist, sexist, ethically offensive or constituting harassment is forbidden. This includes use of the above on the forums, via the in-game chat, or over VOIP.

The players in question were reported to Ubisoft multiple times for their behavior, leading Ubisoft to investigate and follow up on the reports.  The conduct they found was deemed “unacceptable”, leading to the maximum penalty, a permanent ban.  Its_Epi had this to say on the matter:

Our Pro Players are role models within the community, and are expected to act as such. We will similarly not tolerate the aforementioned behavior from Pro Players either. As a result, they are subject to the same punishment that all other players would face for the same type of behavior. Consequently, we have issued permanent bans to a particularly toxic group of players that participate in our Professional scene. These bans will be on their Ubisoft accounts.

In addition to the permanent Ubisoft ban, the players will be banned from competing in the ESL Pro League, for a yet-undisclosed length of time.
