The Division now has the distinct honor of being the fastest-selling game in company history – no easy feat among other record-setting company titles such as Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs.
The new game, which launched yesterday for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, has “sold more copies in its first 24 hours than any other game” in company history. Ubisoft stopped just short of providing actual sales numbers, however, managing director David Polfeldt said the studio is “extremely happy” with the game’s launch, and mentioned that it “represents Ubisoft at its best.”
Based on “NPD numbers, GFK Chart Track, and internal estimates,” the company has now produced three of the top four most successful new game launches in history – this includes Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed, and now The Division, along with Destiny. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot pointed to this as a demonstration of the company’s “unrivaled capacity” to create new franchises and “transform them into entertainment blockbusters.”
This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players’ enduring engagement in The Division’s game world, which we are confident they will love.
In response to game-halting glitches, Ubisoft announced on their forums that servers for The Division will be down for approximately two hours tonight for “scheduled maintenance.” This should run from 10 PM PST until approximately 12 AM PST, and fans can follow the company’s thread for updates.
These glitches include players blocking the doorway for others, and an issue with no character pass-through that has effectively turned a check-in point with a NPC into a “DMV simulator.”

- Various server stability improvements
