Developer Hitpoint Games announced on their Twitter this week that #Dungeon, a roguelike game that lets users build levels with Twitter Hashtags, will be released on PC and mobile on July 4th. The game looks like it is influenced by The Legend of Zelda and The Binding of Isaac. The reason behind the game being released on July 4th, was answered by a tweet, saying that they are an independent game after all.
#Dungeon would allow the game to not only offer the social interaction but also the ability to generate content while being interactive with the game on Twitter. Each gameplay session will bring in content that is randomly generated. It seems a little bit like Binding of Isaac as mentioned earlier, except you contribute to the game. The way it will work is that an official Twitter account will be tied to the game and from that account the developers can then tweet out coding that will generate new content into the game. The coding in the tweet will determine the content that appears in each dungeon and allows for unlimited content. Though developers and for those players who know coding would be able to add #HashtagDungeon to the end of their tweets when tweeting the account. There will be also another social feature to the game, where players would be able to leave messages on the floor for other players to read hints or maybe grief fellow players.
The developer Sean Oxspring, mentioned that the Android and Windows PC game menus have been updated, and the game will include new enemies and traps, with also an expanded game grid that will now be 9×9. It was also mentioned that Hitpoint Games will be having Jesse Cox (www.youtube.com/jessecox) as a cameo in #Dungeon.
