Twitch Lays Off Several Employees Due to Over Hiring Concerns

Twitch continues to be the number one streaming service around. However, its success has not come without its controversies. In its latest brush of controversy, Twitch has laid off some of its employees that have been with the company since its beginning.

These layoffs comes from the new Vice President of Content at Twitch, Michael Aragon. Although many are upset at the VP for being responsible for these layoffs, Aragon was actually asked to deliver the news to the employees while he was on vacation overseas. The layoffs were effective immediately, and of those that were laid off, the most notable people are Jon Carnage (previously with Destructoid), Adam Contini, FishStix (one of the original members of Twitch), and Justin Wong, who also helped clarify some things on Twitter through the storm.

There are still many developing stories and personal accounts going around Twitter, but of all the information, the claims that a Twitch employee known as TosspoT was let go is untrue.

As stated, the main reason stated as to why Twitch let go of these employees was due to over hiring. Some speculate that these layoffs were nothing more than the heads of Twitch trying to make room for personal friends. This negative pushback against firing old employees comes in conjunction with the controversy that Twitch has been a part of for a while now. This is mainly due to the favoritism that some people have noted from Twitch, and how they allow some streamers to slip under their Terms of Service while taking action against others.

Whichever way the situation is viewed as, it is still a sad day to see these employees go, especially the ones who had made a family out of Twitch and called it their home.
