Trek to Yomi Gets Stunning Gameplay Trailer, Launches in 2022

It’s been a while since we heard about Trek to Yomi, the black and white samurai epic that was announced way back at E3 2019. Being co-developed by video game developer Leonard Menchiari and Flying Wild Hog, while also being published by indie powerhouse Devolver Digital, Trek to Yomi made some waves at the time of its reveal, with its striking visuals and excellent composition. Now, we have a better idea for when the title will release, 2022. The game also received a brand new gameplay trailer, which gives us a glimpse into how the game plays, as well as some absolutely beautiful visuals.

The trailer shows the gameplay, which is in a 2.5 perspective as it changes from time to time. As we already mentioned, the visuals are completely black and white, but this only adds to the overall aesthetics of the title. It takes some serious inspiration from famed Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, as it revolves around traditional samurai-style action while mixing it up with some other weapons, including spears, guns, and cannons. This also includes the storyline, as you take on the role of a samurai who is out for revenge, after the murderer of their master.

While the game’s initial showing seems to be a more grounded experience, it goes off into the supernatural for a bit at the end when it teases another type of plane or dimension of sorts. Either way, this looks to be one of 2022’s more anticipated titles, and we can’t wait to play it. It also helps that Devolver Digital, arguably the most successful indie publisher in video game history, is behind this one, which only adds to the anticipation.

Trek to Yomi will launch sometime in 2022 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be available on the Xbox Game Pass when it releases.
