Released back in May of 2014, action sci-fi RPG Transistor has been no stranger to success. The stunning second game form stellar developers at Supergiant, of previous Bastion fame, was met with an overwhelming amount of praise: IGN awarding them 9/10 and best graphics, a 10/10 on Steam, 83/100 from Metacritic, and has garnered over 100 industry awards. The game sold over 600,000 copies in nine months and was swiftly made available for all platforms–PS4, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Mac OS, Linux, and now Apple TV.
In case if you were knocked into a comma last year and missed its rock star reception, let’s have a quick recap. Set in the futuristic city of Cloudbank, you play as Red–a singer turned unlikely hero wielding the mysterious and powerful great-sword, Transistor. Red must cleave her way through the robotic force known as the Process, who are controlled by the sinister shadow organization, Camerata. Not only is the story, art, and gameplay given good marks, but Transistor also features a wildly popular electric-rock soundtrack.
With its transition to Apple TV, Supergiant went all out to make an all new enjoyable way to play Transistor, with four awesome surprises for fans:
1. The ability to save your game data using the Cloud! This means you can transfer game saves between your iPhone, iPad, and now your Apple TV–enabling you to play Transistor almost anywhere.
2. New streamline control scheme using the Siri Remote.
3. A universal purchase policy. If you previously purchased the game on another Apple product, Transistor automatically downloads to your Apple TV with an update.
4. Finally, truly the cherry on top to garnish this delicious gaming dish, Supergiant is utilizing the Apple TV launch to premiere a brand spanking new addition to its already killer soundtrack: She Shines. Composer Darren Korb collaborated with singer Ashley Barret, who provided vocals on Bastion’s soundtrack. The banging new song serves as the backdrop for a fun interactive streaming experience.
