One of the new trailers revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was for a game titled Toxic Crusaders. The main purpose of the trailer was to reveal the release date of the game, and that date is set for this upcoming winter, specifically December 4, 2025. The game is currently available for wishlist on consoles such as the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Toxic Crusaders will also be available for PC gamers through Steam. Toxic Crusaders is being both developed and published by Retroware. This is veteran developer as they already have multiple projects attached to their name, including Iron Meat and Neon Inferno. As for the game itself, Toxic Crusaders is described as a story rich, arcade, beat ‘em up, 2D scroller. The game can be completed either solo, or with up to 3 other friends, and players will have a choice between 7 characters, each having unique abilities. Going into more detail on the plot of the game, Retrowave said:
Grab your mop, tutu and attitude, and get ready to clean up the mean streets of Tromaville, one radioactive goon at a time!
Although, as previously said the main purpose of the trailer was to reveal the release date, viewers still got to see lots of gameplay. This included players racking up combinations while taking down speed and radiation rangers. The battles shown in the trailer took place in multiple areas, such as a street, a class hallway, and a gymnasium. Another gameplay feature that seems to be featured at the end is a bossfight, with all the players taking on one villain. Overall, the reaction to the trailer by fans was positive, with many now excited for the game’s winter release.
