Torpor Games has announced a major content update for Suzerain, along with the release of the Kingdom of Rizia DLC for Nintendo Switch. With this launch, Switch players now have access to the complete experience of the critically acclaimed political strategy RPG, including all of its latest updates and expansions, according to a press release.
Suzerain places players in the role of a national leader tasked with navigating governance, diplomacy, and morally difficult decisions in a fictional country. The Kingdom of Rizia DLC expands on this formula by shifting perspectives to a monarchy-driven storyline where players take on the role of King Romus Toras. As king, players will be responsible for balancing tradition, power, and the fate of the Golden Kingdom of Rizia while reclaiming lost territories, negotiating with noble houses, and managing the precarious relationship between diplomacy and war.
The Nintendo Switch version has been fully updated to the 3.1 Sovereign update. This brings greater depth and new narrative branches along with improved UI and expanded features. Players will find 12 new scenes, 9 new decisions, expanded character arcs, over 300 additional news articles and city reports, and new interactive world map elements. The update also includes performance improvements, upgraded visuals, and enhanced audio for a smoother and more immersive experience.
In the Kingdom of Rizia DLC, players can issue dozens of Royal Decrees covering matters like order, economy, and welfare to shape the kingdom’s future. Military strategy plays a key role with new turn-based systems, allowing players to build up the Rizian Armed Forces and train units to strengthen their position on the world stage. The expansion also dives into the personal dynamics of Rizia’s ruling family, weaving together religion, family, romance, and politics.
Torpor Games has also refreshed the Switch version with updated character art, a reworked UI, and an improved story selection system for easier navigation, ensuring that it matches the presentation quality of other platforms. Ata Sergey Nowak, Managing Director of Torpor Games, expressed excitement at bringing the fully updated experience to Switch, highlighting the importance of players being able to shape their nation’s destiny anytime and anywhere on a handheld system.
Suzerain is currently available on the Nintendo eShop for 6.99 USD, with the Kingdom of Rizia DLC priced at 11.99 USD and the Expanded Edition bundle available for 17.91 USD until September 19, 2025. After the sale, prices will return to 19.99 USD for Suzerain, 14.99 USD for the Kingdom of Rizia DLC, and 31.99 USD for the Expanded Edition.
Suzerain has been praised internationally by outlets including Der Spiegel, VICE, Rock Paper Shotgun, PC Gamer, and CNN Brazil.
