The official website for the Tomb Raider franchise has been updated as it now includes a sign up section right when you go to the main page. At the page, which is just above the sign up section, the description states that those who sign up will be the first to hear about “breaking news” as well as “rewards, exclusives, merch, releases, and more!” While the wording is slightly vague, this could be a hint at a potential tease for a brand new Tomb Raider title.

It’s been a while since we last heard anything in regard to a new entry in the Tomb Raider series. Crystal Dynamics has been going through a bit of a transition for the better part of 12 months. This started when the studio was sold to the massive video game conglomerate Embracer Group last year, which was followed up by the announcement of a brand new entry in the Tomb Raider franchise. Fast forward to December 2022, and it was suddenly announced that the newest iteration of the Tomb Raider series would instead be published by Amazon Games, a subsidiary of Amazon itself.
This caused several rumors to come about, with the most prominent being that the series had been sold to Amazon by Embracer for an astonishing $600 million. As of this writing, the IP, and the studio are both still owned by Embracer Group, so it’s possible that the latter only made a deal with Amazon to let them have the publishing rights for this next entry. Either way, if this does end up leading to the next Tomb Raider title, it’ll be the first mainline entry since 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
