Today, Ubisoft announced that they are going to release a Tom Clancy sniper game for mobile devices: ShadowBreak. The game is described as a “real-time multiplayer sniper shooter.” It will also feature different kinds of tactical objectives.
You play as an “elite sniper” who is the commander of the squad. You can use that previously mentioned tactics to send soldiers into areas that they are most likely to succeed. ShadowBreak is set in sometime in the near future where factions called the Shadow Nations are threatening global security. Your mission is to take the Shadow Nations as a part of the ShadowBreak initiative. Yeah, completely original.
More information can be read on the official Ubisoft blog for ShadowBreak. During matches, you only have three minutes devoted to deploying troops to attack enemy bases and moving your sniper between vantage points to defend your troops, protecting your bases and hunting your sniper opponent.
There is a wide selection of guns in the game and you can control up to four troops per match.
“Our hope is that the balance between these two aspects is very tight,” said AJ Morales, ShadowBreak’s creative director. “If you’re a great marksman with an inferior troop loadout, you’re still going to have a strong avenue to victory. If you’re not as strong in your shooter prowess but have superior troops and strategy, you’ve still got a great shot at the win.”
ShadowBreak is also looking to evolve after its official release.
“We’re hoping to give our players new modes, units, weapons, arenas, and more to keep them engaged and competitive for quite some time. For us, this isn’t a one-and-done scenario. Our team is in this for the long haul,” Morales said.
ShadowBreak has already “soft-launched” in Canada for iOS and Android; it will be available worldwide later in the year.
