Now that we’re through most of the major video game events of June, it’s time to look forward towards one of the biggest events of the Fall season. The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) has announced the exhibitor lineup for their annual Tokyo Game Show event, which is slated to take place from September 21-24. The list, which is fairly massive, is a who’s who of video game giants from the industry. However, Xbox will only have a presence online, Nintendo not having a physical presence on the show floor, and Sony will only show some of their indie selections.
As you can see in the tweet above, the few names displayed are some of the most well-known companies in the entire industry. In fact, there are so many that CESA states that this year’s Tokyo Game Show will have the largest showroom floor in the event’s history. There are so many different studios and vendors that the entire Makuhari Messe venue will be used in order to accommodate all of the participating companies. That is quite an amazing feat, especially considering the event is known as Japan’s E3, or maybe now their Summer Game Fest.
As you can probably tell with all of these exhibitors, the Tokyo Game Show 2023 will be an in-person event, as all of the most recent video game presentations have mostly returned their original format before the worldwide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The 2020 iteration of the Tokyo Game Show was the first to completely cancel the event and change it to digital-only one. In 2021, they kept the digital-only format, and then in 2022 they went back to the in-person format, with some special features for those who watched online.
The Tokyo Game Show 2023 will go from Thursday, September 21 to Sunday, September 24.
