Undertale developer Toby Fox gave fans an update on the development of Deltarune Saturday evening on a newsletter. According to Fox, the content for chapter 3 and chapter 4 was completed on September 1st. All that is left for both chapters is to wait for the Japanese localizations to finalize.
“…I have personally completed everything I can actively do for it,” said Fox. “…But, they exist! Chapter 3 and 4 are real! Now, it’s just a matter of time!”
While there is no release date for either chapters, Chapter 3’s localization is expected to finish around the first weeks of October. Fox expects Chapter 3’s of its PC version to begin in the middle of that month. testing professional testing of the PC version in mid-October.
Lastly, Fox stated that those on his team not finishing up Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 were working on Chapter 5’s content.
Anyone not working on localization, console porting, or fixes, is now working on Chapter 5. This will be the main focus for us moving forward. In addition to the Deltarune update, Fox showcased a special collection celebrating the 9th anniversary of Undertale.
Deltarune is an episodic role-playing game and the next installment in the Undertale series. Set in a parallel world, players take the role of the young human Kris, their monster friends, and a prince from the Dark World, as they set out on a journey to save the world. The first chapter released in 2019 and the second chapter released three years later in September 2021.
The first two chapters of Deltarune are available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, macOS, and PC via Steam. For more information on Deltarune’s development, fans can head over to the game’s official website.
