As 2022 entered its halfway point, fans of DELTARUNE eagerly awaited another annual update, but a recent confirmation put a damper on that excitement. Game developer and series creator Toby Fox confirmed tonight that DELTARUNE wouldn’t see any new chapters for 2022. This update unsurprisingly came with mixed reactions from fans. While many fans understood the unfortunate delay, discontentment towards the growing gaps between chapter updates has only grown. Despite this, Toby alluded to having something special for fans to enjoy, since the seventh anniversary for Undertale and the first anniversary for DELTARUNE Chapter 2 were near.
We won’t be able to put out any new chapters of DELTARUNE this year… But as usual, we have a little something specil planned for the anniversary of UT/DR Ch2… See you next week!

From the creator of the hit indie-RPG Undertale, DELTARUNE thrusts players into a completely different story filled with quirks and callbacks towards Fox’s original game. The player follows a human named Kris who lives in a world inhabited by monsters. Kris and a classmate named Susie fall into an unknown place called the “Dark World” where they meet Ralsei, who informs them that they are heroes destined to save the world. The trio meets various beings who call themselves “Darkners” during a prophesied quest to seal the duplicate Dark Fountain. Mainly through the combat system, the player navigates through different kinds of bullet hell attacks by enemies, which can be resolved peacefully or through violence.
It’s still unknown what exactly Toby planned for the anniversary with the announcement being a week away. Some fans speculated new illustrations but far more hoped for music releases. Regardless the DELTARUNE void for many needed to be filled. Thankfully, there were still plenty of anniversary events to look forward to while fans wait on the update. On September 3rd an officially licensed UNDERTALE event was announced for Anaheim, California. The video game merchandise company Fangrave partnered with Requiem Cafe, a fantasy-themed cafe based in Anaheim, for a surprise UNDERTALE Cafe event. The limited-time event lasts from September 15 to October 10, 2022, filled with themed food and exclusive merchandise.
