Platinum Games’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan has a release date and a new trailer. The four player action-game will be released on May 24th, about a week before the new film releases, for PS4, PS3, XBOX ONE, XBOX 360, and PC. Along with the release date, we also got a new trailer which gives us a much better look at what the game is going to be.
While we already knew that Be-Bop and Rocksteady will make an appearance, we also got a look at Super Shredder, a tiny glimpse of Krang, and the cyborg shark Armaggon (yeah I had to look that one up). The game is also confirmed to be rated Teen, which means the turtles can actually use their weapons but don’t expect anyone to be decapitated.
As far as gameplay goes, there will definitely be four player co-op. It’s unsure whether it’s local or online or both, a TMNT game needs to have four player co-op. Since this is developed by Platinum Games, the turtles look like they have a wide variety of moves and combos as well as some epic boss fights. In the trailer we say the turtles on Jet Packs, which could hint at some awesome aerial combat sections. It looks like TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan is injecting a little fun and humor, as well as a great cel-shaded art style that’s reminiscent of Viewtiful Joe (another Platinum game).
Platinum has had a really solid track record so I’m sure they’ll do good by the Ninja Turtles. Makes you wonder what other properties Platinum could take on. Perhaps if they’re making that new Power Rangers reboot we could get a Platinum Power Rangers game, which would probably be one of the greatest things ever.
