Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella originally confirmed in an interview with IGN last month that a multiplatform Titanfall sequel is on the way. While there is no title to accompany a more official announcement, the developer assures fans of the first Titanfall game that the next installment will deliver “a lot of stuff that people are going to be excited about.”
Titanfall originally launched as a Microsoft Windows and Xbox One console exclusive last March, and was later ported to Xbox 360 the following month. In a nutshell, the fast-paced first-person shooter offers a purely online multiplayer gameplay setup with some single-player elements like plot, character dialogue, and NPCs, or non-player characters. The sequel in development, however, may include a single-player campaign mode based on overwhelming community feedback. Respawn’s studio community manager, Abbie Heppe, mentioned in an interview, “We’ve definitely heard the feedback” (via The EXL Podcast).
In the absence of an official announcement for the game, Heppe touched on some of the existing components that will hopefully provide the framework for a successful sequel. “The really nice thing about working on a sequel is we have established the core of whatTitanfall is. We have assets, we have an engine, we have all of these things that we laid the foundation for in the first game that now we can really build off of in the second. So I think there’s going to be a lot of stuff that people are going to be excited about. And that’s all I can say” (via GameSpot).
Oh, and if you missed the memo, all Titanfall DLC are now free to download for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. The announcement was made on the game’s first anniversary.
