Respawn Entertainment, the developer for Titanfall 2 has announced earlier today that they will be adding co op mode for the game called Frontier Defense in its next free update. The new game mode was first introduced in the original Titanfall as DLC a few months after the title’s initial release. This new feature is a horde mode in which a team of four must face a multitude of foes while protecting an object called the Harvester.
The enemies will come in five waves and will grow stronger as the players progress through them. Players will be able to earn cash for defeating enemies that can be spent in between waves to purchase tools like Batteries, Arc Traps, Sentries, and more. They will also have the ability to place light or heavy turrets in between waves as well. The mode will have the following choices of difficulty; Regular, Hard, or Master. An Insane difficulty will be added as well but it will exist in a separate tile as a Featured Mode.
The five maps that will be supported at launch will be Homestead, Forwardbase Kodai, War Games, Rise, and Blackwater Canal, although the studio is currently testing additional maps and will add more in the future. Respawn is also adding new elite warpaints for weapons and titans. Both of these warpaints will give players XP boosts, however the ones for the titans will only be available to purchase until August 28. The Frontier Defense update will be releasing July 25 for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
