Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Pre-Order is Live, New Trailer Features a Geralt Cameo

With Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales set to release for PC on October 23, pre-orders for the game are now open. The game grew from single-player piece of CD Projekt Red’s multiplayer Gwent game into a fully separate product. Now, as pre-orders begin, the developer has opened up a bit about the upcoming game and released a new story trailer.

Thronebreaker is almost here and we couldn’t be happier,” said Marcin Iwiński, co-founder of CD Projekt Red. “Thronebreaker is a proper Witcher tale, with more than 30 hours of story, over 75 side quests, and — at the same time — a game that lets you lead an army into previously unexplored places in the Witcher universe.”

Along with the pre-order comes a number of digital perks, including the Thronebreaker soundtrack, a digital edition of Gwent: Art of The Witcher Card Game artbook, concept art, a digital copy of The Witcher graphic novel “Fox Children,” and bonus titles, avatars, and premium kegs. However, it’s not necessary to pre-order Thronebreaker to get these items, which CD Projekt Red made clear in its press release.

“Pre-orders start later today and Thronebreaker includes some pretty awesome digital goodies. However — and I think it’s important to add this — these are not exclusive to gamers who pre-order. When buying our games, everyone gets the same in-game content,” Iwiński added. “For us, pre-orders are all about the anticipation and excitement, and — most importantly — showing support for the studios and games you love. So, if what you see and read in the previews appeals to you, we welcome your pre-order with open arms. However, if you need more time and would rather wait for reviews, do take your time and buy post-launch — you won’t miss out on any of the goodies.”

In Thronebreaker‘s new story teaser, we also see something we haven’t yet: an appearance from Geralt of Rivia. The game’s leading character, Queen Meve of Rivia and Lyria, knighted Geralt back in the timeline of the Witcher novels. You can watch the full trailer below:

In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
