Amazon has officially entered the video game race with the announcement of three brand new IPs on their website. Obviously, Amazon has a history of success in areas where most people thought they would not, like grocery deliveries. It is a safe bet that they will do well in the market. The three games they have announced are in different genres. They are releasing an MMO-style game, a four on four multiplayer sports brawler, and what appears to be some MOBA. If you are keeping count, those are the three biggest genres on the market besides FPS.
Breakaway is their 4v4 teamwork based fighting game/sports hybrid. You will play as renowned warriors who battle on famous fields such as El Dorado. For gameplay, you can conjure up unique structures to your class called “Buildables” to alter the playing field. The game will feature extensive Twitch streaming capabilities.
Amazon’s New World is an MMO-sandbox game where you team up with players to destroy monsters. The world will shift and change depending on the season, weather, and time of day. You will be able to build towns or fly solo in this game. Amazon has not announced any more information. Again, Twitch integration is a factor here with “broadcaster-led events.”
Finally, Crucible is Amazon’s attempt to storm the already-bloated MOBA market. The game is a fight to see the last man standing on an alien world. So far, all that is known is that you can customize your heroes. For the third time, there will be live-streaming and viewer interaction.
Each game has available alpha sign ups available on their website. There has been no timetable for release, and each game will release for PC.
