THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2023: TMNT: The Last Ronin Announced, South Park: Snow Day Revealed, Gothic 1 Remake Trailer And More

THQ Nordic held their annual Showcase this weekend. The event was filled to the brim with a plethora of trailers, as well as some surprise reveals. One of those reveals came in the form of a brand new South Park video game, along with a highly anticipated adaptation of one of the most popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comic arcs. There were plenty of different title that were covered in the Showcase, and we’re going to go over them all right here.

Initially reported back in March of this year, the extremely popular 2020 comic mini series is officially getting its own video game adaptation. While no official date was given, we did learn that the studio developing the title is Black Forest Studio, who is most well known for their work on Destroy All Humans! and Destroy All Humans! 2. No gameplay was shown either, so it’s safe to assume that the title is still early in development.

 

Last year, during the 2022 Showcase, THQ Nordic teased a brand new South Park title. Now the company is ready to unveil that they’ve been working on. Titled South Park: Snow Day, a 3D co-op multiplayer game that focuses on the aforementioned special day where there is no school. The characters will don their fantasy-inspired outfits which was last seen during the franchises previous two video game outings, South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured but Whole. The title will launch in 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.

 

It’s been a while since we last heard about the Gothic 1 Remake. Originally announced back in 2020, the title got a much needed trailer for the 2000’s action RPG. The trailer gives us a nice and detailed tour of the Old Camp, one of the most iconic locations from the original. No official release date was given but it is expected to be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.

 

Titan Quest 2 is real and has finally been revealed. A fully fledged sequel to Iron Lore’s 2006 game, yes it’s been that long, Titan Quest 2 will be developed by Grimlore Games, who is most known for developing SpellForce 3, an RPG/Real Time Strategy title that was released in 2017. The title will run on the powerful Unreal Engine 5, and will have players hunting down Nemesis, goddess of retribution. No release date as given, but regardless, the long awaited sequel is finally here.

 

Since it was revealed during last year’s Showcase, Alone in the Dark has become one of the more anticipated reboots in recent memory. We got a new trailer for this year’s Showcase, and it introduces Edward Carnby, a private investigator, who is also portrayed by actor David Harbour. The trailer shows Edward talk about a horrifying place in a very tense performance by Harbour. We also got a trailer in regards to the other main character, Emily Hartwood, who is portrayed by actress Jodie Comer. Alone in the Dark will launch October 23, 2023 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.

 

The Last Train Home is a World War II real time strategy title coming exclusively to thee PC platform. The title is being developed by Ashborne Games, with players giving Czechoslovak solders orders in order for them to make their way home. Along the way, you’re caught between Russia’s Red and White Armies who are in the midst of a civil war with the horror and trauma of battle surrounding you. Last Train Home will launch sometime in 2023.

 

Appeal Studios and THQ Nordic have essentially re-announced Outcast 2: A New Beginning. Now going as Outcast: A New Beginning, the title’s reintroduction You take on the role of Cutter Slade, stranded on an alien planet called Adelpha where you will have to assist the planets inhabitants as they take on an invading force. The title is a single player third person shooter and is follow up to the original Outcast which launched way back in 1999, a 24 year difference. No release date was given but the Steam page states that Outcast: A New Beginning will be coming soon.

 

The upcoming Space for Sale is getting a closed beta test. The home, or space home in this situation, simulator is being developed by Mirage Game Studios and will have worlds that are procedurally generated, meaning you will never run out of places to create living spaces with. The title still has no release date, but the closed beta test means that the developers are getting closer to completion. You can sign up for it here.

 

Slipgate Ironwork’s upcoming Tempest Rising has a demo, or as they call it a playtest, that is available right now on its Steam page, which you can check out here. However, the demo is only available to play until  August 28, and you’ll need to request access to it before you can play it. Tempest Rising is an base building Real-Time Strategy title that is inspired by the genre’s golden age during the 1990’s and 2000’s. No official release date was announced.

 

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is coming later this month on August 31, 2023. Developed by Frozenbite, the game focuses on side scrolling action platforming, except this time it can be played up to four players. The trailer shows four people, sitting on a couch old school style and all, huddled next to each other playing the title, emphasizing the theme of working together. The title will also have an upgraded puzzle system, along with the challenge being adapted to the number of players that are on screen. Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy will be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.

 

Way of the Hunter: Tikamoon Plains got another good look at with a trailer focused on the DLC which showcased where players can visit. The DLC was announced earlier this year and is available right now to download on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.

 

Wreckreation is an upcoming title that is being developed by Three Fields Entertainment. The game is an open world racing simulator, where players build the tracks, landscapes, complete with some hilarious additions. This is made possible with the MixWorld, the in game feature that allows you to create, race, and yes, create some Wreckreation. The title still doesn’t have a release date but hopefully we’ll find that out and more soon.
