Square Enix started the new year with new games and special announcements. Their official website hosted a series of announcements for the Final Fantasy series from various producers each with their prospective insight on upcoming projects. Ichiro Hazama shared his last-minute thoughts with fans about his current project, Theatrythm Final Bar Line. It is the newest rhythm game installment in the Theatrythm Final Fantasy series.
It is a series of rhythm games based on various installments in the Final Fantasy franchise which hosts different characters and songs from many titles that were released over the course of years. Players select characters from the different Final Fantasy games that they’ve played to form their parties. The combat system is based on how players navigate the rhythm patterns the game presents by having them connect the rhythm notes into chains. These chains create a score, and the more consecutive notes players achieve, the chain can be graded into a perfect chain. Achieving perfect chains in songs will reward players with a high grade in the final score. The music selection hosts songs of various speeds, lengths, and levels of difficulty.
Music from the game will bring fans together to play online to enjoy their beloved tracks together. Ichiro Hazama had this to share with fans.
That’s right, the music that scored some of your fondest memories is here, just as you remember it. This release is packed with 35 years’ worth of beloved tunes.
Over the course of 35 years that this series has been out, there will be a total of 502 songs for players to enjoy. People can enjoy the songs they’ve heard from the games they played in their original recordings. Those who played the older installments will be able to hear the song as they were originally produced and published. This gives players the opportunity to enjoy character, battle, and boss themes as they sounded on older consoles that they were originally released on. With the expanded music provided with DLC content, people who might not have played some of the Final Fantasy games or are familiar with them can experience the new music for the first time in this game. Theatrythm Final Bar Line is available for pre-order and is scheduled to be released on February 16, 2023, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
