Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call Now Available On 3DS

Square Enix have announced that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call is now available on 3DS, bringing tracks from the entire Final Fantasy franchise together under one cumbersome title for your rhythm tapping pleasure.

Fat Chocobo is best Chocobo.

If there is one thing Square Enix hasn’t been squeamish about the last few years it’s tie-in games taking advantage of the Final Fantasy name. A lot of these have been hit or miss, but the general consensus seems to be that the 3DS Theatrhythm title was one of the better ones. Now there is a whole new game out, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call (Second only to Duodecim for in terms of inelegant Final Fantasy titles) that brings over 200 music tracks spanning the series’ quarter century of existence together with chibi-fied versions of tons of fan favorite characters to give players the strongest JRPG-themed rhythm game to date.

Oh, and day one DLC including Yuffie.

Beyond the expanded track and character lists Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call also brings to the table a pair of new game modes, including a versus mode as well as a quest mode. If the images and video seen so far are any indication the quest and versus modes will have gameplay quite similar to the indie title Dungeon Hearts (another excellent rhythm game on PC.)

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call is available now, and only on 3DS. In addition to the core game (with its 220+ tracks and something like 60 playable characters) Square Enix has also seen fit to grace players with a collection of DLC available for the game already, including eight additional music tracks and playable character Yuffie the Ninja from Final Fantasy VII. Future DLC releases are planned, with eight more songs being available by the end of the month as well as Rosa from Final Fantasy II/IV, with songs running 99 cents each to download, though until September 30th 2014 two of the tracks currently available are accessible for free. Fans of rhythm games and/or Final Fantasy should definitely check out Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call: the name might be a mouthful, but there’s a lot of value included, and more content coming in the future.
