“It’s a lovely weekday morning in the village and you are a horrible goose.”
That is the simple but eloquent explanation by developer House House for their upcoming Untitled Goose Game. In this gentle and colorful cousin of games like Goat Simulator, you play as a goose making mischief on the farm where he is kept. Get revenge on your captivity in the best way you can: minor inconveniences.
“In this goose game you play as a majestic animal in captivity of a sinister human. Since there’s little you can do to escape, your sole purpose as a goose is to make the farmer’s life as difficult as possible: steal his garden shovel, hide away his keys, drop the sandwich he’s been looking forward to eating into the pond,” further description of the game goes on to detail.
Here is a few minutes of pre-Alpha gameplay that the company released:
It is definitely an amusing premise for a game. A gameplay demo debuted at GDC this last month to positive feedback from those who had a chance to be hands on with the game. Simple but accomplishable tasks, and adventure style collection quests dominate the stealth focused gameplay. The animation is stylized and quite honestly adorable, and gives Untitled Goose Game a clean and focused look.
But don’t let the looks fool you; some of the tasks are definitely puzzles and require multiple items and steps to complete, all of which must be done without being seen and caught by the farmer.
Untitled Goose Game is set to come out in 2018, with no specific release date or console information available as of yet. Keep an eye on the House House website for updates.
