The Witcher: Monster Slayer Launches Later This Month On July 21 For iOS & Android

CD Projekt Red has announced that the free-to-play, location-based AR RPG, The Witcher: Monster Slayer will be released globally on both iOS and Android on July 21. Developed and published by Spokko, The Witcher: Monster Slayer is set long before the story of The Witcher series of games. Players will assume the role of ‘witcher’ as they will see the world around them transformed into the dark-fantasy realm known from The Witcher universe. Similar to Pokemon Go, players will engage in location-based gameplay and advanced augmented reality features to track down and hunt bloodthirsty monsters lurking nearby. Players will experience story-driven quests that propel you through epic adventures inspired by The Witcher series, taking you deep into the heart of what it means to be an elite monster slayer.

Spokko also announced that the game is available to pre-register for Android users on Google Play. Players who pre-register will receive the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword which will be added to their inventory immediately when they begin their adventure. The Steel Sword allows players to receive 10% more experience points in-game with every monster they kill.

Before the release of The Witcher: Monster Slayer, the first-ever WitcherCon will be taking place. WitcherCon is a global, virtual celebration of The Witcher. The digital convention will feature a number of interactive panels spotlighting both The Witcher games, as well as The Witcher live-action series, anime film, and merchandise.

The schedule for WitcherCon has been released. Throughout the day on July 9, starting from 10 am, people can look forward to panel all about The Witcher Season 2, Welcome to Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, a discussion with actors Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan, who play Yennifer and Ciri in the Netflix series, about their characters challenges and changes in Season 1 and what to expect in Season 2, a panel sharing behind the scenes details regarding The Witcher series of games, a panel with a pub quiz-style game with some of the masterminds and key creators of The Witcher games and The Witcher Netflix series, a panel with Spokko all about The Witcher: Monster Slayer, a panel about the world of The Witcher figures, and a conversation with Henry Cavill, who plays Geralt of Rivera in the Netflix series.
