The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Songs Of The Past, The Long Rumored & Reported New DLC, Officially Announced

Well, that didn’t take long. Yesterday, CD PROJEKT RED announced a special anniversary livestream for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine to celebrate the game’s second expansion release. Announced out of the blue, many assumed that this would be when CD PROJEKT RED would officially announce The Witcher III‘s new DLC, which was reported and rumored to be happening earlier this year. Today, the game’s next expansion, Songs of the Past, was officially announced.

“Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Riva for a brand new adventure when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC,” CD PROJEKT RED wrote in the official press release.

As it was first reported earlier this year, Songs of the Past is being co-developed with Fool’s Theory, a new team comprising industry veterans who worked on The Witcher III. Fool’s Theory is also working on the remake of the first Witcher game.

Because the game originally came out 11 years ago, CD PROJEKT RED has provided an update to the game’s system requirements for PC to ensure smooth performance and compatibility going forward.

Following the end of support for Windows 10, Windows 11 will be the minimum required OS for both The Witcher III and Cyberpunk 2077. HDDs will no longer be supported and the game will run exclusively using DirectX 12.

CD PROJEKT RED was originally going to reveal the new expansion tomorrow during the Blood and Wine livestream, but the announcement leaked on RED launcher.
