Well, it was long rumored, but now it’s reality. CD Projekt Red officially have an update for their 2015 hit classic Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the form of Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, an expansion. And it’s not just an expansion update, it’s also coming with a straight up remaster.
Upgraded visuals, updated gameplay, a new skill tree, a new photo mode, and improved travel means that this remaster will be a very solid new experience. Witcher 3 is definitely a game that’s garnered its fair share of critiques over the years, so for it to get a second chance at correcting some of the flaws the original release had is a cool thing to see.
The remaster comes with both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, and is available free for anyone who already owns the base game.
The remaster is setting the stage for the next big thing though: The Songs of the Past expansion which will ease the transition from Witcher 3 to Witcher 4, since that was a point of slight contention among the fanbase.
The Witcher 3 remaster will be available on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam, GOG, and EGS.
