The Witcher 3 is Getting Patches for PlayStation Pro and Xbox One X

During a presentation earlier this week, CD Projekt Red President and co-CEO Adam Kiciński announced upcoming 4k updates for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt beginning with the PlayStation Pro. The first update will be available in “just a few days,” according to the video; although a specific date isn’t mentioned, the 4k PS4 patch can be expected imminently. The Xbox One X update will be released “by the end of the year,” which lines up with the console’s launch date of November 7th.

Further specifics on how the 4k updates will improve The Witcher 3 have not been divulged yet. CD Projekt Red’s PR manager, Radek Adam Grabowski, maintained that “more details about [the updates], including the exact moment when they will be released, are something we are going to announce when the right time comes.”

This announcement comes hot on the heels of CD Projekt Red’s celebration of their 10-year Witcher anniversary. Geralt and company have been figures in the world of video games since the first game’s release in October of 2007, and CD Projekt Red released a video addressed to fans of the franchise commemorating the upcoming milestone. While you wait to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in high definition, you can watch the video (chock-full of game references and familiar faces) below.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
