RetroSpace, an upcoming space game, developed by The Wild Gentlemen and Published by Kwalee, sets October 1st as its release date, through a Release Date announcement on YouTube, Steam and Twitter. The game centers around a “Janitor.” The Janitor struggles to stay alive in a “space station” as they’re trapped in a “black hole” where they meet and fight “weird creatures” according to the game’s Steam page.
The Release Date Reveal Trailer starts with the Janitor collecting, shooting and being somewhat killed by a black spider insect creature. The trailer takes on a first person perspective, and shows the interior of the station, such as a room with a gold statue, a space center and more, while armed with different weapons. The Janitor runs through more rooms, before a dead human’s body is spread out on a console, as a voice tells the Janitor they’re one of the people “left alive. And you’re the only janitor I could reach.” The Janitor hits a machine with a tool getting it to start, before an insectoid monster passes. The Janitor walks through different parts of the station, one section showing the sprawling garden architecture, in another sector, they avoid plant like fauna creatures.
The trailer kicks into gear as the Janitor holds their gun out as they run through the station, they duck through a small creature’s blast before shooting it, then hit a spider with another gun-like weapon, and blow up another plant creature. At the “POLICE SECTION” human-like creatures are shooting guns while the Janitor hides, with the option to “KILL” the shooters. In another section, the Janitor watches a human sized pig eat what might be human or monster remains. The Janitor shoots at a ship part, cleans up some messes on a station wall and moves slowly around another room while being in black and white mode, to avoid the detection of another monster. The narrator continues going through sections as a different voice states “I don’t trust the machine woman.” While this convo occurs, the Janitor faces off against robots and examines a machine in their suit. The Janitor walks through pods, enters a multi floored view of the station, meets a suited up space pig, enters a space shuttle, boxes fall on another shuttle, then the trailer shows the aforementioned robot woman, who says the Janitor and her “are a good team.” Just as the trailer shows a collage of different monsters, before a human like creature with one giant eye, a network of human veins and heart, and what looks to be the black hole itself floating behind it, approaches. The trailer ends telling audiences of the “consequences” of an “Excessive use of muts,” and that RetroSpace will be available on Steam, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X and S.
